Where Web 3.0 is Going

After spending lots of time research Web 3.0 I have concluded that the internet will be more accessible and convenient to everyone across the world. The internet will be faster than ever and developed in a more simplified way than it already is. There have been many posting from apple, in developing an actual computer on a Iphone or Itouch. Although it has many characteristics of a computer already, the new Web 3.0 will consisted of all the qualities a standard computer has and more. Including Photoshop, illustrator, Microsoft office, and many more features.
Not only will Web 3.0 bring different characteristics and features to the technology world and the world itself, but will be in-expensive. Many researchers and professionals believe that in a matter of time Web 3.0 will be as cheap as the radio today.

Personally I think its incredible how technology is developing and how it develops the world and people today. I think that Web 3.0 in a couple of years will be mandatory for everyone to have. Businesses, companies, movie theaters, sport events will all consist of Web 3.0 and make it mandatory for all investors, fans, critics and such to contain different Web 3.0 in order to enjoy or function with them.

Microsoft's Future Vision 2019

In research the future of the internet and how it's going to affect our world, I cam across and interesting video. The video was published by Microsoft introducing it's plan for the future. After watching that video, it seemed unrealistic and very futuristic. It's crazy how convenient these piece of technology are in our every day life, as well as convenient for all age groups. After watching this video I think the world is going to use less pens and papers. This video is mind blowing, it makes me wonder if we are really going to have floating cars!

Extra Credit

The Internet is undoubtedly permeating and transforming all aspects of our economies and societies. It is a remarkable catalyst for creativity, collaboration and innovation and more broadly, for the development of our economies and societies.
In the coming years we expect an exponential increase of information, the further development of social networks, the accelerated growth of online video traffic, and the emergence of the Internet of things, which will progressively cause the online and real worlds to become inter-linked . Mobility and extended nomadicity, the growth of security and privacy threats, the diversity and sheer number of new applications, services and business models supported by the Internet mean that the existing Internet architecture may soon be placed under strain.

Logo

In my paper I discussed how Facebook has developed Web 2.0. With this logo I created I wanted to show how Web 2.0 is made up of people and Facebook. I used many techniques and tools to develop this logo, in order to get my message across. Many hours were spent making a collage of different peoples faces and the Facebook's logo. Once I had the collage I had to find a way for the letters to be filled with the collage, and make the letters stand out. Overall, this was a time consuming project however, the outcome is awesome!

A New Way

Mark Zuckerberg the founder of the very popular social network Facebook, never thought that his exclusive network would be one of the fastest-growing and best-known social media website on the Internet today. Zuckerberg was only a sophomore at Harvard when he and introduced this sumptuous idea to his peer classmates. Originally, this idea was meant to give a brief bio of each of his college classmates to make more personable relationship. However, it only took a couple of months to be a internet sensation known to many throughout the world, and possibly bringing Web 2.0 into the minds of many. “The term "Web 2.0” is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web” (Wikipedia). Web 2.0 includes web applications, blogs, wikis, social networking sites and much more.

Ask anyone on the street if they are familiar with Web 2.0, and chances are most have never heard of it and admit to never using it. Little did they know that Facebook is becoming the mainstream to Web 2.0.

So how did this miraculous Web 2.0 social networking website appear in the hands of many?

In February of 2004, as a place to exclusively interact with other Harvard students. It was simply a place for your name, a picture and a little description of yourself. Quickly this new social media website was heard and requested upon other college students in the United States. By September 2004, Facebook broaden its development to group application and the “Wall”. The group application is a function for users to join their and other schools users, developing a more easy and accessible way for students to directly connect with their peers. It’s purpose continued to engage student interactions and collaborations that had a common inertest, such as sports team and political views. The “Wall” was established for students to leave public comments or messages to other students. For example, students are able to write “happy birthday” to a friend they hadn’t seen, or leave a joke.

The popularity and request for Facebook increased dramatically, pressuring Zuckerberg to endorse his social network into the hands of all college students. At this time, Facebook could only be accessed if students had an email address from a college or university. The idea and purpose of opening up to all college students was to enable friends to stay connected when going to school or back home.
This outreach to all college students endured Facebook, to be ranked as the number one social networking site among all college students. “Social Networking sites have emerged as college students’ number one source of communication” (). In a month of Facebook was allowing access to all, high- school students, adults, and young teens. Rapidly a million users joined Facebook; high school students and work places quickly increased Facebook’s worth to over one million dollars. It now holds more than 200 million active users worldwide and is continuing to grow each day. Zuckerberg stated that “Two hundred million in a world of six billion is tiny,” he says. “It’s a cool milestone. It’s great that we reached that, especially in such a short amount of time. But there is so much more to do.”

There are diverse opinions on how Facebook has affected people lives and the way they communicate. Personally I believe that Facebook has become one of my top ways of communicating not only with friends but family as well. When I first joined Facebook I was immediately able to connect with my classmates. I realized that having other classmates on Facebook was a easy way to ask or give help last minute with homework or on a project with students in my classes. I was also able to post pictures immediately after I had taken them of my friend’s birthday partiy for all my friends to see. Without Facebook, I would have to go to the store and print out copies and pass them around to only the friends I see on a daily basis.

As Facebook grew more popular with people I was finding myself connecting with family members from across the United States and reconnecting with childhood friends. Being able to talk to friends and family members from distance will be a sense of security when I study abroad. Professor Koch at Marist College, said that “Distance is not a crucial thing anymore, because social network sites allow for relationships to feel safe”. Personally, I feel a sense of security knowing that I will be able to talk to my mom and friends, while keeping each other up to date with our lives. Without Facebook I would be incapable of showing pictures and videos of experiences I have abroad.

Facebook has attracted millions of users, many of whom have integrated these sites into their daily practices. It help strangers connect based on shared interests, political views, or activities as well as people based on common language or shared racial, sexual, religious, or nationality. Facebook is becoming a popular way for people to collaborate information, pictures, videos and much more. The New York Times wrote “Facebook is rapidly becoming the Web 2.0’s dominant social ecosystem and an essential personal and business networking tool in much of the wired world. Facebook promises to change how we communicate even more fundamentally, in part by digitally mapping and linking peripatetic people across space and time, allowing them to publicly share myriad and often very personal elements of their lives.”

Additional Work

In one of my other classes, I was assigned to analyze and evaluate a print advertisement. Within the assignment I was asked to discusses the advertisements message, target audience, a the companies history and background. In doing so, I conducted my own advertisement about the product which I think would be more successful and effective.

Group Project

1. Today many TV shows and advertisements try to look amateurish or "homegrown" to emulate what is often seen on the Web. Do you think professional production values will continue to drop, or do you think amateur user-generated content will get better over time? WHY??

We don't think media production will stoop down to individual productions. There will always be movies that have this strategy such as (Paranormal Activity, Blare Witch or Clover Field), however, it will never take over all media. It will never be the main way of making movies. We believe it's just another way to convince the audience to buy a product or service, as well as intriguing people to watch movies and television.

2.
Find a news article and write down tags you would use to define what the article is about. Now goto Digg or another tagging site and see how others have tagged it. What did you learn from the differences or similarities in tagging?

New York Times article
Live Analysis; United States versus Canada

Tags: Olympics, Hockey, Sports, Canadian Upset, US, Canada, Sport's Media, Men's Hockey
Digg: Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, hockey, Jaromir Jagr, Men's hockey, Mike Babcock, ron wilson, Russia, Sidney Crosby, Sweden, United States.

The Digg website consisted of more specific details than our tags. We focused more on the sport and the different aspects of hockey, instead of the Olympics in general.

3.Why is transparency such an important concept in the Social Media world? Is it MORE or LESS important in the offline world? Why?

It is important for transparency to be involved in the Social Media world because its what sustain the whole social media or user generated world. If people weren't ready to expose themselves on Facebook or Twitter, than those types of social media would be non-existent. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Youtube rely on people to express themselves and their opinions. If people slowly stopped being transparent then the social media would feel the "domino effect" and eventually fail. As a group, we believe that is just as important to be transparent online as well as offline. Being transparent online allows you to express and connect yourself to multiple people at a time. However, having transparency offline allows more personal interaction as well as creates a more personal relationship. Overall, we think that people have a tendency to be more transparent online than offline. However, we think that there is no distinct reason for transparency to be more important than one another.

"The Persuaders" Questions

"The Persuaders" begins by questioning the increase in the amount of advertising we typically encounter in our daily lives. How would you assess the amount of advertising you see? Too much? Too little? Just right? In your view, what difference does it make to know that people today see much more advertising in their daily lives than people 20 or 30 years ago?

From the first form of advertising, it has developed and changed dramatically. In earlier times advertisements were simple and straight forward. If the same advertisement were used today, the product or service would be out of business instantly. Today's advertising agency's are trying to keep up with the new technology and continue to try and make their product or service stand out. I thought it was interesting how advertising has become such a science. The message, words, pictures, and music are more important that the product or services. It was interesting to hear how people's opinions change when a word is renovated. This is what I believe is going to be the focus of advertisements in the future.

Where are things headed in the future? What are some possible scenarios that could play out as far as the direction that future persuaders may take their marketing techniques.

Personally I think technology is going to allow advertisement to excel and change the world. Technology is now allowing for magazines to be 3-D and is helping people connect with each other across the world in a personal way. However, I think that advertisement companies will need to focus on the verbal message. Like the man who survey's people to find out if a slogan or characteristics in a advertisement are believable and beneficial. I think advertisements should have a better look at what the people believe what messages or words are trustworthy or believable; because no matter how technological advertisements excel the people are whats most important.

Analysis of Digitial Media II

Watching the second half of the film, I wasn't sure whether or not I liked or disliked the new technology. One main topic the video discussed was the topic of technology in teaching. Personally I think to that technology is forcing teachers use technology, as well as, the teacher are forcing students to use the technology. For example, today a research essay could take up to a week or two to write. Back when we didn't have technology there was no such thing to write a research paper in a week, it would take weeks. I wrote an article on the whether or not technology such as individual computers was beneficial. There were mixed views. Personally I think that it does allow student to gain more knowledge at home, however, it takes away from the principles of learning. In other words, we are able research a topic on Google both in school and at school. However, when I was younger I was taught ways to find information through books and to compare to get trust worthy information. Looking back to third grade I was learning how to write cursive, now it seems that students are learning how to type.

It's crazy to see how fast we adapt to new technology as well as become so dependent on it. For example, Facebook, in less than 7 months the member number increased dramatically. Today, it's seems as if people can't live without it. It seems as if it's there only way to contact other human beings. Which is scary, because like someone said in the movie " we are gifted of our ability to verbally and physically communicate with people, we should not forget about it." That quote really opened up my eyes. I think that technology is taking away a lot of characteristics a human being has to offer. For example, I'm a bubbly person and it's very hard to express that in a text or email.

Overall I thought this was an awesome video! It's really makes you step back and look at how life and the world has changed and developed around us.

Analyze of the film, Digitial Nation

Before watching this video, two days ago I was frustrated with my phone. It was broken or not working I was just tired of being attached to it. I was angry of how dependent I was to my phone, it seemed as if I couldn't walk two steps away from it. This incident made me realize of how the world of technology has changed and overall has changed the world. It was funny how the video touched upon this aspect. The reporter said if we lose or don't respond to our connections (email, phone, etc.) that the people on the other side are disruptive or lost. In other words, if I ignore my phone all day from calls and text message, the person that sending the message get worried or frantic. It's more like people expect a quick response. Often I feel like I want to escape this crazy world, however, I can't. Which is scary!

Although we have a decision to decide whether or not were going to use a piece of technology or application, I believe that the world forces us to use it. For example, movies, just 5 years ago the invention of DVD's came to world distinguishing VCR's. For the person, lets say for instance a women, loves VCR's or has no problem using VCR's is forced to buy a DVD player and DVD movies; due to the force of technology. Meaning if the women wanted to watch a movie, however, this movie was only on DVD forces her to buy and use the new technology.

Just from the first 20 min of the film I'm wondering myself of how big of an impact technology has. It really has me thinking not only about myself, but about the future the world holds. I'm curios and enthused to see what the film talks about in the second half.

Assignment 2: Content Collage

The medium I decided to use was the Blackberry. Within the screen of the Blackberry I posted some of the characteristics and content of the blackberry. The background picture in the screen is a picture of the world representing the mobility and accessibility. The collage also includes photos of a camera, twitter, email, Face-book, gps, videos, and apps all representing the different contents of the Blackberry. I also included the picture of the mouth representing the verbal communication from the Blackberry. Although the picture of man running is unique in different, I really wanted to show speed and the fast capability in the Blackberry. Also, letters and numbers are included in this blog to represent the basic functions within the blackberry.

Overall, I think this collage really represents the characteristics and content that a Blackberry holds.
